Alexandra Warnock was born in 1903 in New Zealand. Between 1903 and 1920, Warnock travelled to Scotland to complete her MB ChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Masters in Surgery) in Edinburgh. She completed her MD (Medical Doctorate) in 1928 also in Edinburgh. On returning to Australia, Warnock practiced anaesthesia, serving as the Deputy Director of Anaesthesia at Auckland Hospital between 1949 and 1958. Warnock was also involved in the development of cardiothoracic anaesthesia in Auckland at the Green Lane Hospital. She became involved with the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists serving on their executive from 1949 to 1955.
